This is a freeware tool that lets you monitor network and servers in the network.
This tool enables automatic monitoring of servers and the network containing them. Websites and web applications can be monitored too. This free version allows monitoring of websites and intranet applications. You would be able to monitor mail, database such as Oracle, MySQL, MS SQL, ODBC and other servers, network equipment and other resources of the network. Server uptime and monitoring of resources in additional networks could be implemented through remote network agents. The application gathers data through counters maintained by the Windows based computers via WMI. Linux/Unix based systems provide the data through SNMP protocols. You will be able to derive reliable outage and performance problem alerting. Reports provide detailed history and trends data. Besides WMI and SNMP, other monitoring methods include web page monitoring, web applications monitoring, database server and mail server monitoring. You will be able to run scripts locally and remotely.
The periodicity of polling by the monitors can be specified by the user. “Basic connectivity” group of monitors polls every 30 seconds by default. For others the default is a minute. A minimum interval between polls is limited to 15 seconds. The result of a check is either a value or an error message. Depending on returned value the monitor stays in OK state or turns into one of four problem states that include performance warning, performance alert, down and extended down. Benefits that could be derived include maximizing network and server uptime, proactive alerts on performance problems, advanced monitoring of web shops and applications, server optimization, etc. This is a very good product. If you are looking for a similar solution, you should try it in your exact workflow.
